2024: Reflecting on a year of challenges, milestones, and opportunities
As 2024 draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on a year that has tested the business environment with a tough funding climate and global unrest. Yet, the enduring spirit of innovation in Swedish life science, supported by the updated national life science strategy, reaffirms our confidence in the sector’s resilience and potential for growth.
For Medicon Village, 2024 has been a year of remarkable milestones. In October, we proudly inaugurated our new laboratory building, creating opportunities to welcome additional tenants to our thriving innovation community.
This year also marked significant advancements in our innovation support efforts:
- The 10xHealth Scale-Up Program: Launched in collaboration with SmiLe Venture Hub, this initiative provides tailored guidance to accelerate the growth of life science companies.
- The NOME Mentoring Program: With renewed funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation for another five years, this program enables us to continue connecting Nordic life science startups with top-tier mentors, fostering innovation across the region.
Academic research remains a cornerstone of our ecosystem. We are especially proud that the Mats Paulsson Foundation, the owner of Medicon Village, doubled its donation this year to SEK 50 million for medical research. This extraordinary contribution highlights the critical role of science in shaping a healthier future.
As we prepare for 2025, our focus remains on developing Medicon Village as a leading innovation environment where ideas, businesses, and capital converge to enable a thriving life science sector.
Finally, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our achievements this year. The dedication and support of our members and partners are what make Medicon Village such a vibrant and innovative community. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and we look forward to seeing you in 2025!
