Smarter procurement for more efficient operations

Medicon Village

In 2023, Medicon Village initiated a strategically important development in how we handle procurement, with the aim of reducing costs and streamlining operations. As part of this initiative, Mats Wessman was engaged as interim Head of Procurement. With extensive experience, including roles as Head of Procurement at PEAB Anläggning Sverige and Wihlborgs Fastigheter in Malmö and Lund, he has carried out procurements for several key services vital to us and our members.

These include security services such as staffing five receptions, surveillance, patrolling, alarm services, and emergency preparedness. We have previously had a long-standing partnership with Securitas, dating back to the AstraZeneca era.

– When the contract with Securitas was nearing its end, we decided to carry out a procurement process involving several potential suppliers. It was important for us to find a proactive and service-oriented partner who could act as the face of Medicon Village and, when needed, as our extended arm. Everyone should feel warmly welcomed here, whether they are a member, visitor, or supplier, says Mats Wessman.

The procurement process focused on service quality, overall cost, and finding a partner at the forefront of sustainability efforts. The project concluded with a decision to switch suppliers, and as of the new year, we are collaborating with Sydsec Bevakning.

Our top-tier security is part of the Medicon Village member offering, which also includes access to laboratory services and equipment, pre-clinical and biobank facilities, adaptable and redundant IT infrastructure, professional mail and goods handling, a high-profile conference venue, a restaurant offering first-class services, and much more.
