Lund University continues to hold a strong international position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027. As the second-highest ranked university in Sweden, Lund also stands out with particularly strong results in innovation and societal engagement.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the world’s leading university rankings. In the latest ranking, Lund University receives an impressive score of 99.8 out of 100 in the Industry category, reflecting its ability to translate research and knowledge into societal benefit through collaboration, external research funding and patents.

The strong result also reflects Lund University’s deliberate efforts to strengthen collaboration and innovation across organisational and sectoral boundaries, not least through the increasingly integrated approach within Lund Innovation District.

“Lund University’s strong performance in innovation is very encouraging. At Medicon Village, we see first-hand how the University is strengthening collaboration within Lund Innovation District and with innovation environments such as ours. Bringing academia, industry, healthcare and entrepreneurs closer together creates better conditions for excellent research to translate into innovation, growing companies and tangible benefits for patients and society,” says Petter Hartman, CEO of Medicon Village Innovation.
