Position Overview

We are seeking a Associate Director of Bioinformatics and Translational Data Science to join our growing R&D team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in computational biology and omics data analysis, with a proven track record of developing and applying bioinformatics workflows to unravel complex biological mechanisms in oncology and immunology. Working at the intersection of preclinical and clinical research, this role will play a pivotal part in the development of novel therapies by integrating multi-omics datasets to identify biomarkers and support the design and interpretation of preclinical and early clinical studies. The role combines hands-on computational analysis with responsibility for translational analysis, data management and oversight of data from external partners. The candidate will design/build a robust clinical biomarker analysis pipeline and data integration ensuring high-quality data output to inform strategic decision-making, and guide clinical development. The position requires strong scientific curiosity, independence, and the ability to translate complex datasets into actionable biological insights to advance our clinical development and research efforts.

Key responsibilities

Bioinformatics, Preclinical Research and Internal Data Infrastructure

Develop, implement and optimize bioinformatics pipelines to support preclinical drug development, including analysis of bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, DNA-seq, TCR-seq, spatial transcriptomics, ATAC-seq, proteomics and flow cytometry.
Collaborate closely with the internal cross-functional R&D team, and external parthers with experimental planning, ensure scientific rigor and reproducibility.
Translate complex multi-omics data into biological insights to drive biomarker discovery, elucidate mechanisms of action and inform translational strategy.
Interpret and present bioinformatic findings clearly to scientific and executive stakeholders.
Evaluate emerging computational tools and advances in immunology and incorporate relevant approaches into Asgard’s research workflows.
Lead the scientific and technical selection of preclinical omics and bioinformatic service providers, defining analytical requirements, deliverables, timelines and acceptance criteria.
Oversee bioinformatics data management practices and infrastructure, including data organization, governance, and quality control, to ensure data integrity and traceability throughout the development pipeline.

Clinical and Translational Data Science

Design/build data analysis pipelines to integrate translational and medical data (e.g. data aggregation on per patient, dose-response, link to preclinical data/MoA) and prepare presentation-ready data for cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
Design/build robust data management structure for translational science, ensuring safe data management, traceability, integrity and documentation of TS data in a phase-appropriate manner.
Develop Asgard translational science pipeline on bespoke omics assay (e.g. RNAseq, TCRSeq, proteomics)
Translational Data science lead in cross-functional clinical biomarker working group.
SME on data science and management for translational CRO selection and oversight, (evaluation of technical capabiltieies, data requirement and transfer), and ensuring timely, high-quality data transfer from external vendors.

Qualifications

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Cancer Genomics, Immunology or a related discipline.
Expertise in multi-omics analysis, including bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, with experience in TCR-seq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, ATAC-seq and flow cytometry.
Strong programming and statistical skills, with the ability to independently deliver reproducible, documented analyses from study design through biological interpretation.
Experience in oncology, immunology or translational research, supported by publications, analytical tools or contributions to drug development.
Experience building/designing integrated analysis pipeline for preclinical biomarker and early clinical datasets, developing PD signatures and assessing assay comparability and dose-response relationships.
Experience designing and managing data quality, integrity, traceability and security of clinical-stage data, to phase-appropriate quality standards..
Experience with vendor management and regulatory submissions are desirable.
Strong organizational and communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate findings to scientific and executive audiences.
