NOME celebrates 10 years of accelerating Nordic life science innovation

Medicon Village

This year marks the tenth anniversary of NOME (Novo Nordisk Foundation Mentor Network), a milestone that highlights a decade of supporting ambitious life science companies across the Nordic region through mentoring, strategic guidance and access to industry expertise.

Since its launch in 2016, NOME has grown into a highly valued platform for early-stage life science companies seeking to navigate the challenges of growth and commercialisation. The network was established through a grant of nearly DKK 20 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and has since received further funding of DKK 13.5 million in 2021 and DKK 29.3 million in 2024, securing activities through 2028.

Today, NOME brings together more than 218 mentors from across the life science ecosystem. The network includes experienced entrepreneurs, industry executives, investors and venture capital professionals who provide strategic advice and support to selected companies.

Since its inception, more than 126 companies have participated in the programme, with approximately 20–25 new companies joining each year. Together, NOME companies have raised more than EUR 1 billion in funding after entering the programme, underlining the network’s contribution to innovation and company growth in the Nordic life science sector.

One notable success story is SAGA Diagnostics, a Medicon Village member company that became the 16th company to join the NOME mentor programme. In April 2026, SAGA Diagnostics was acquired by Roche in a deal valued at up to USD 595 million, demonstrating the potential of Nordic life science companies to achieve global impact.

Medicon Village has been a partner to NOME since the very beginning and continues to play an active role in identifying and supporting promising young companies. Through the partnership, Medicon Village helps connect innovative entrepreneurs with NOME’s extensive mentor network, providing access to high-quality strategic business advice and valuable industry experience.

As NOME enters its second decade, the collaboration between the Novo Nordisk Foundation, its mentors and ecosystem partners such as Medicon Village continues to strengthen the conditions for life science innovation and entrepreneurship across northern Europe.
