Welcome Niklas Sellin – our new Project Manager for construction projects
We are pleased to welcome Niklas Sellin, newly appointed Project Manager for construction projects at Medicon Village Fastighet. To introduce him to our community, we asked him to elaborate on four key questions:
What is your professional background that makes you well suited to the challenges at Medicon Village?
I am a qualified civil engineer specialising in civil engineering and construction, and I studied just a short distance from here at Lund University Faculty of Engineering. Most recently, I worked for a consultancy firm in Malmö as a construction project manager, representing the client side across a wide range of projects and phases – from new-build developments such as schools, preschools and residential care facilities, to refurbishments in hospitals, offices and industrial premises.
What will your role be?
My role is to act as project manager for refurbishments, tenant adaptations and new-build developments. This involves leading consultants and contractors in the right direction and ensuring that the end result is high-quality, attractive premises for our tenants.
What do you see as your main challenges here (and how will you create value for members)?
The key challenge is to become familiar with the premises, understand our tenants’ needs and expectations, and deliver results that meet or exceed them. Many of our facilities are complex, requiring a high level of technical expertise and coordination between multiple stakeholders. For me, communication is essential, ensuring that the right stakeholders receive the right information at the right time, not least our tenants when work is carried out in existing premises.
What major projects lie ahead over the next two years?
In the near term, the focus is on developing and enhancing our existing facilities. For example, the conference areas in Inspira will undergo a refurbishment this summer. In addition, we are continuously working to meet the maintenance needs of our buildings.
Niklas will be a key member of Medicon Village Fastighet, working closely with the rest of the team and playing a vital role in our life science park – the largest in Scandinavia. This includes contributing to our expertise in adapting premises and facilitating business growth for both thriving start-ups and expanding research-driven companies.
