Från innovation till patient: Vilka reformer krävs för att medicinsk innovation ska nå patienterna?
On Wednesday 24 June, we organise Life Science-dagen in a large tent at Hamnplan, in collaboration with AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Chiesi, Lund University, Novo Nordisk, Roche and SmiLe Venture Hub.
At 14.00-14.45, there will be a seminar in Swedish on ”Från innovation till patient: Vilka reformer krävs för att medicinsk innovation ska nå patienterna?”, hosted by Roche. Please note that the program and its speakers/panelists might be updated before it takes place – updated program in the official program for Almedalsveckan.
Seminar focus
Unequal access to innovative treatments is affecting Swedish patients. To create better conditions, Sweden needs to ensure sustainable funding for the implementation of new treatments. Joint political action is now required – but which reforms are possible at national and regional level?
Medical breakthroughs create hope, but in Sweden the path to the patient is becoming increasingly long. To maintain our position as a leading life science nation, a shift is needed where we look beyond the short-term price tag.
New treatments should be regarded as an investment in society, where the cost is weighed against a healthier population, increased productivity, and reduced pressure on healthcare and social care services. When access to innovation is delayed, not only patients’ wellbeing is at risk, but also Sweden’s attractiveness for cutting-edge research. To secure the future, reforms are needed that prioritise the implementation of innovation in healthcare and ensure sustainable funding.
Could greater government responsibility reduce geographical disparities and accelerate access to new treatments? How do we create room for investments with long-term value, and how can we safeguard Sweden’s international competitiveness?
