Från Skåne till Europa: hur industriell bioteknik kan stärka Sveriges konkurrenskraft
On Thursday 25 June, we will take part in Skånes Innovationsarena in a large tent at Hamnplan, in a unique collaboration with AMYNA, Biotech Heights, Ideon Science Park, Lunds kommun, Malmö University, Medeon Science Park, Medicon Village, Region Skåne and Science Village Scandinavia.
At 08:00-08:45, there will be a seminar in Swedish on "Från Skåne till Europa: hur industriell bioteknik kan stärka Sveriges konkurrenskraft", hosted by Biotech Heights. Please note that the program and its speakers/panelists might be updated before it takes place – updated program in the official program for Almedalsveckan.
Seminar focus
Industrial biotechnology is key to Sweden’s future competitiveness, resilience, and sustainable growth. Sweden benefits from strong research, innovative companies, and good access to raw materials – yet risks losing momentum as other parts of the world scale up more rapidly.
Europe is now mobilising to meet growing global competition, with European stakeholders pushing for simplified regulatory frameworks, strategic investments, and more scale-up facilities.
In this panel discussion, regional stakeholders and politicians will come together to discuss how Sweden can take a clearer role in Europe’s biotechnological transformation. We will identify the conditions required for innovations to remain in Sweden, scale up, and create long-term value – and how we can contribute to shaping a Europe that leads in industrial biotechnology.
The discussion will be moderated by Biotech Heights. The innovation hub brings together stakeholders committed to developing and advancing biotechnology for food and materials. Based in Lund, Biotech Heights is an example of how a strong regional platform can contribute to both national and European development.
