On Friday, April 12, PhD students and researchers gathered at Medicon Village for the annual PhD Day organized by MDR (the Medical Doctoral Student Council) and funded by the Research Education Committee at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University.

With the theme 'The PhD Prescription: Crafting a Career in Medicine and Beyond,' a comprehensive full-day program was presented, featuring prominent speakers from academia, industry, and research institutions.

Among the many distinguished speakers was Petter Hartman, CEO at Medicon Village Innovation, who provided an update on the current labor market in the life science industry. Diahann Atacho, Portfolio System Manager at Lundbeck, discussed challenges and opportunities when transitioning to the industry, while Daniel Bexell, Associate Professor at Lund University, shared insights on how to thrive in academia.

The PhD Day also provided great opportunities for students to network with representatives from both academia and industry, and the day concluded with an exciting mingling session at Inspira.

The Faculty of Medicine at Lund University has approximately 1,000 PhD students across six different departments in both Lund and Malmö. The Medical Doctoral Student Council (MDR) is the doctoral student council for all PhD students at the Faculty of Medicine.
