Christmas greetings from Medicon Village

Medicon Village

As the year draws to a close, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to Medicon Village in 2025. The dedication and engagement of our member companies, partners, and friends are what make Medicon Village a vibrant and dynamic life science community.

It has been an intense and, at times, challenging year. A restrained funding climate and a complex geopolitical landscape has required us to adapt and rethink how we collaborate. At the same time, we have seen many encouraging developments that point towards a more optimistic outlook as we move into 2026.

Swedish innovation continues to perform strongly on the international stage. In the European Commission’s European Innovation Scoreboard 2025, Sweden once again ranks at the very top, closely followed by Denmark. As part of the Danish–Swedish life science cluster Medicon Valley, this further strengthens Medicon Village’s strategic position and the opportunities it creates for both research and business.

The year has also brought significant progress within Medicon Village. In January, cancer researchers from Lund University connected to our environment received a landmark donation of SEK 420 million from the Mrs Berta Kamprad Foundation. In addition, the Mats Paulsson Foundation for Research, Innovation and Societal Development – owner of Medicon Village – continued its strong commitment to medical research in Lund and Malmö, donating a total of SEK 19 million to eight research projects.

We also welcomed 30 new member companies during the year, bringing our community to more than 180 members. Despite the economic downturn, demand for our laboratory and office spaces remains strong, and we are particularly encouraged that companies such as AstraZeneca and Roche have chosen to deepen their collaboration with Medicon Village.

Throughout the year, we have continued to strengthen our support for member companies through initiatives such as the Medicon Village Investor Panel, the 10xHealth Scale-Up Programme together with SmiLe Venture Hub, and the NOME Mentoring Programme funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation.

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with renewed energy and a shared ambition to support our members on their growth journeys and to further develop Medicon Village as a leading Nordic innovation environment – where ideas, businesses, and capital can grow.

We now look forward to some well-deserved Christmas holidays and to welcoming you back to Medicon Village in January.

With our warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
