PhD Day highlighted career paths for early-career researchers
Last week, Medicon Village welcomed more than 65 doctoral students from Lund University’s Faculty of Medicine for this year’s PhD Day.
Organised by the Medical Doctoral Student Council (MDR), the event brought together early-career researchers for a day focused on communication, resilience, and career opportunities both within academia and beyond.
The programme provided participants with practical insights and tools to navigate an increasingly diverse job market. During the day, Sarah Lidé from Medicon Village presented an overview of the life science sector, highlighting key trends and offering perspectives on the evolving career landscape for researchers in southern Sweden and the wider Medicon Valley region.
PhD Day forms part of ongoing efforts to support the professional development of young researchers and to strengthen connections between academia and industry. By creating platforms for knowledge exchange and career guidance, initiatives like this contribute to building a more resilient and competitive life science ecosystem.
At Medicon Village, strengthening competences is a central part of contributing to the development of the life science sector. Supporting initiatives such as PhD Day is one way of helping equip the next generation of researchers with the skills and perspectives needed to navigate a broad range of career paths, while also contributing to talent attraction and retention in southern Sweden.
