Research engineer within antibody technology and cellular therapies
The primary focus of the position is on utilizing technical platforms for the development of human antibodies and other relevant molecules for therapy.
The position is linked to CREATE Health (www.createhealth.lth.se), which is a center dedicated to using advanced technology to advance cancer research across various areas, managed under the Department of Immunotechnology. Through the collaborative project L2Bridge, which is supported over the next five years by a donation (https://www.lu.se/artikel/storsta-donationen-till-lunds-universitet-i-modern-tid) from the Berta Kamprad Foundation, there is now a focus on antibody development.
The position also includes work within the national infrastructure SciLifeLab's unit Display and Selection Technologies (https://www.scilifelab.se/units/display-and-selection-technologies/) which is part of the national research platform SciLifeLab Drug Discovery and Development (https://www.scilifelab.se/units/ddd-platform/). Its role, on a national level, is to focus on antibody development and work on translational development of academic research discoveries for therapeutic use in clinical settings.
Work duties
The work assignments will be project-focused and therefore vary over time but can generally be divided into: (i) Establishing and maintaining physical and digital platforms related to molecular and cell biology work. (ii) Selecting and developing antibody candidates using phage display technology and related downstream work, including characterization and antibody production. (iii) Performing molecular and cellular assays to develop and evaluate the functionality of antibody candidates and other molecular scaffolds.
The tasks also include documenting and reporting the results of your work and collaborating within the research environment. Since our operations are part of the university, tasks related to teaching and education are also included, such as supervising students during laboratory sessions. Shared departmental responsibilities are also part of the role.
