Earlier this week, Medicon Village’s Innovation Manager, Francesco Bez, took part as a judge in the National ATMP Research School pitch competition, held at Grand Hotel in Lund. He was joined by representatives from Lund University, LU Innovation and SmiLe Venture Hub.

The competition was organised by the National ATMP Research School at the Stem Cell Center in Lund, under the leadership of Johan Flygare. It brought together a selection of early-stage research projects within Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), highlighting both the scientific quality and translational potential emerging from the region.

The event demonstrated the strength of Lund’s research environment within ATMPs, with a growing pipeline of innovations in areas such as cell and gene therapy. The high level of participation reflects the continued development of a strong ecosystem supporting advanced therapies, built on close collaboration between academia, healthcare and industry.

Lund has established itself as a key hub for ATMP development, combining academic excellence with infrastructure and initiatives that support the progression of research towards clinical and commercial application.

Medicon Village plays an active role in this ecosystem by fostering collaboration and supporting the maturation of early-stage projects, contributing to the advancement of next-generation therapies.
