Call for increased pension investment in Swedish innovation

Sweden’s innovation environments are among the strongest in the world, but greater access to venture capital is needed to turn research into products – and products into successful companies. That is the message from several leading actors across the country’s innovation ecosystem.

In an opinion piece published in Dagens Industri earlier this week, representatives from prominent innovation environments argue that Swedish pension capital should play a more active role in financing the next generation of companies. Strengthening access to long-term capital, they say, is essential to maintain Sweden’s global competitiveness – not least within life science.

The article is authored by senior representatives from organisations including STUNS, Stockholm Science City, Karolinska Institutet Innovations, GU Ventures, Chalmers Ventures, Medicon Village Innovation, Sahlgrenska Science Park and SmiLe Venture Hub.
