Seven innovators awarded Future Innovations Award 2025 – Prof. Thoas Fioretos receives Lund’s Innovator Prize

On 10 September, the Future Innovations Award 2025 ceremony took place at Inspira, where seven winners shared SEK 1,050,000 and will receive tailored support to further develop their projects. Since 2017, the award has celebrated groundbreaking ideas with the potential to make a difference in society.

The competition is open to all employees and students at Lund University and welcomes ideas and projects across all fields. The prize is organised by LU Innovation and funded by Sparbanken Skåne through its owner foundation, Sparbanksstiftelsen Finn.

New prize introduced: Lund’s Innovator Prize 2025

For the first time, the ceremony also featured the Lund’s Innovator Prize, created to recognise a distinguished researcher at Lund University who has made a lasting impact through innovation. The inaugural award went to:

  • Prof. Thoas Fioretos, Lund University Cancer Centre (LUCC), and founder of several companies including Lead Biologics and Cantargia.

Close ties to SmiLe Venture Hub and Medicon Village

Several of the recognised companies above have close ties to SmiLe Venture Hub and Medicon Village. Both Dx4Life and Lead Biologics are members of Medicon Village and are currently part of SmiLe Venture Hub’s incubator programme, while Cantargia joined during its early development and is now an alumnus of SmiLe.
