Strengthening Conditions for Swedish Growth Companies
Swedish startups are key to future innovation and competitiveness – yet many face significant barriers to growth. Limited access to capital, complex regulations, and challenges in scaling internationally continue to hold companies back.
On April 10, Medicon Village hosted Sven-Olov Daunfeldt, Chief Economist at the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv), and Member of Parliament Mats Persson (L) for a visit in Lund. The meeting focused on how to improve the conditions for small and growing businesses in Sweden.
The discussion highlighted critical challenges, including capital access, regulatory burdens, and the difficulties companies face when expanding into global markets.
During the visit, the delegation also met with ImmuneBiotech. CEO Shahram Lavasani shared the company’s journey from research to market, underlining the importance of targeted support throughout different stages of growth.
Medicon Village provides a broad range of innovation support – from early-stage incubation through SmiLe Venture Hub to scale-up and mentorship programmes. However, continued collaboration is essential to further strengthen Sweden’s innovation ecosystem.
By working together with key stakeholders such as the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, Medicon Village aims to help drive forward policies that enhance Sweden’s competitiveness and create better conditions for knowledge-intensive companies.
