Sweden named the most innovative country by the European Commission

Medicon Village

The European Innovation Scoreboard 2025 was released by the European Commission in July, providing a comparative assessment of the research and innovation performance of EU member states, other European countries, and global competitors.

Compared to previous editions, Sweden has regained its position as the most innovative EU member state, overtaking Denmark, which held the top spot from 2020 to 2024. Private investment in innovation is highlighted as one of Sweden’s greatest strengths.

This number one ranking is a testament to the unique strength of Sweden’s innovation climate. For Medicon Village, as part of Medicon Valley, located at the intersection of Sweden and Denmark, the report highlights the strategic positioning of our life science park – and the wealth of opportunities this creates for both research and business.
