What matters in translational cancer research

Yesterday, CREATE Health hosted the L2CancerBridge program meeting here in Lund, bringing together researchers and partners under a theme that goes straight to the heart of translational science: ”Let us remember what matters.”

And what matters, ultimately, is making research results available to cancer patients — by actually implementing them.

Throughout the day, L2 researchers presented their projects and reflected on what it takes to get there: the ability to scale up (more analyses, more samples, deeper assessment of results), recruiting and retaining talented people, building new collaborations, and being able to plan for the long term.

We were also excited to showcase some of the newly acquired, state-of-the-art equipment now available to L2 researchers: the Zeiss LSM 990, the Beacon Discovery platform, and the Parhelia Spatial Station — tools that will sharpen the depth and precision of cancer research happening right here in Lund.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of Mrs Berta Kamprad’s Cancer Foundation, whose donation has been instrumental in driving this work forward.

Representatives from our partners at Medicon Village, SmiLe, and LU Innovation also joined the meeting, contributing their expertise on commercializing research results — a crucial piece of the puzzle in turning discoveries into real-world impact.

Thank you to everyone who took part — researchers and partners alike. Let’s keep remembering what matters.
