Truly Labs first to move into our new laboratory building
On 1 July, Truly Labs will be the first tenants to move into our state-of-the-art laboratory building for advanced research and medical development. In this 12,500 square metre, four-floor building, they will occupy the western part of the top floor.
Six months later, in January 2025, they will celebrate their 10th anniversary of offering contract research in drug development with a focus on translational research, i.e., the transition from pre-clinical to clinical activities, at Medicon Village. With their new location, they will have the proper platform to grow their business and expect to attract new talent, aiming to double their staff size from 25 to 50 within a few years.
- We have planned for this expansion for several years and now look forward to stepping up our operations with the physical space in place. It will be a challenge to achieve our expected outcomes, but we have planned for it for a long time and really look forward to the journey ahead, says Karin von Wachenfeldt, CEO.
Currently using laboratories in four different buildings at Medicon Village and having office space in a fifth, The Spark, Truly will now gather all their operations in one area. Another advantage of this expansion is that it makes room for the installation of new instruments for expanding their bio-analysis capabilities.
- Right now, there are boxes everywhere and at the same time we need to focus on delivering to our customers. On top of all this, we have started reaching out to potential clients in new markets like the US and Europe, with the ambition to increase our international client base. We’re optimistic about the future and look forward to the energy our new combined lab and office space will bring to everyone, says Charlott Brunmark, CSO.
Most of Truly’s move will take place in July. From August, operations are expected to be running at more or less full speed.
The new laboratory building strengthens Medicon Village’s role as the natural hub for research and entrepreneurship in life sciences in southern Sweden. It provides opportunities for existing companies like Truly Labs, Alligator Bioscience, SARomics Biostructures, Cellevate, and Redoxis to expand while also allowing new companies to establish themselves at Medicon Village as existing members move to the new building, generating chains of relocations.
We plan to hold a formal inauguration of the building on the same day the recipients of donations from our owning foundation are announced (18 October), followed by an Open House on 28 January. More information on these events will be provided later.
