A successful week for Medicon Village at Almedalsveckan

Our presence at Almedalsveckan in Visby last week fulfilled its objectives. We set out to strengthen our position as the largest life science park in the Nordics while, at the same time, highlighting the Skåne innovation ecosystem in a national context. We did this by hosting two new initiatives – Life Science-dagen and Skånes Innovationsarena – in our large tent at a prime location in the heart of Hamnplan. All in all, we and our 15 partners welcomed 1,051 visitors to our tent over the course of three days.

Life Science-dagen aimed to establish a high-profile, unified forum and meeting place for life science at Almedalsveckan. Together with AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Chiesi, Lund University, Novo Nordisk, Roche and SmiLe Venture Hub, we showcased the strength and breadth of Sweden’s life science sector, in line with our role as the largest life science park in Scandinavia. Skånes Innovationsarena was a joint initiative involving AMYNA, Biotech Heights, Ideon Science Park, Lund Municipality, Malmö University, Medeon Science Park, Medicon Village, Region Skåne and Science Village Scandinavia. Building on the legacy of the former Öresundshuset, the initiative aimed to raise awareness of the remarkable innovation taking place in our region while demonstrating the power of collaboration between academia, industry and the public sector. One of the highlights of Almedalsveckan was welcoming Mats Paulsson and Pia Andersson to our tent. They took part in seminars and expressed their appreciation for our investment in Life Science-dagen and Skånes Innovationsarena.

Mats Paulsson founded Medicon Village in 2012 with the ambition of creating a world-leading environment for life science research and innovation. He also established the non-profit Mats Paulsson’s Foundation for Research, Innovation and Societal Development, which owns Medicon Village and supports projects that advance research, innovation and societal development.
