Securing patent rights and funding in the US – a primer for start-ups and other small entities

For most start-ups and SMEs, the US represents not only a large but also a very important market. The US also offers a significant source of potential funding. From a patenting perspective, the US is known as the jurisdiction where patent applicants get the most bang for their buck. US patents are generally necessary to secure funding in the US.
The presentation will cover what is important for start-ups and SMEs when building IP assets and preparing to approach investors in the US. We will discuss what is critical and needs to be considered prior to starting the creation of these IP assets. What should be included in US patent applications to maximise IP protection, and what are the possibilities at the USPTO? Depending on the field, regulatory aspects may also need to be taken into account. What are the alternatives, and what are the consequences? What needs to be prepared before approaching an investor, and how can the right investor be found? The audience will have the opportunity to have their individual questions answered.
