Betahälsan expands with enhanced service offering

Medicon Village

Betahälsan is a healthcare provider founded in 2002, offering occupational health services, ergonomics, and physiotherapy specialising in back, neck, and shoulder pain from its premises on the ground floor of The Spark at Medicon Village. In connection with the company changing ownership this summer, access to care from more specialists has increased, and the organisation now expects to expand its operations going forward.

The new owner of Betahälsan is Hälsomedicinskt Center Företagshälsa (HMC), which operates occupational health units in Arlöv, Landskrona, Löddeköpinge, Malmö, and Staffanstorp. HMC is part of the Medtanken Group, running clinics in both Region Skåne and the Västra Götaland Region. With the new owner’s resources, more staff will be available on site, while appointment availability at Betahälsan will increase.

Another advantage is that patients are able to choose care across all units within the group. This is beneficial both for occupational health services and for patients with private health insurance, as it allows easier access to care close to home even if the workplace is located at Medicon Village or nearby. Additional new services already introduced include audiology and fixed times for drop-in vaccinations.

- With Betahälsan on board, we are now also present in Lund and continue to expand our network of clinics. We look forward to bringing our services to this dynamic and high-profile innovation district, and we are optimistic that, with Medicon Village as our platform, we can meet the needs of patients and employers requiring occupational health services, and more, says Patricia Cedervall, Head of Operations at HMC Företagshälsa.

The previous owner, Eva Ekesbo, is a well-known face at Medicon Village. She will remain at Betahälsan, but as an employee working fewer hours, gradually tapering off as she looks forward to retirement.

– Betahälsan is something I have created, worked with, and been passionate about for many years. The new owner is a guarantee that the operation will live on, which feels very reassuring. I am continuing as usual, but without some of the administrative work, and can gradually wind down at a pace that feels right for me, says Eva Ekesbo.

Entire health chain within walking distance

Betahälsan is part of an intricate network of care-providing organisations at Medicon Village, representing the entire health chain from prevention and diagnostics to treatment and care, together with:

  • Audionomservice Hörselmottagning, an independent audiology practice that, on behalf of Region Skåne, provides hearing rehabilitation for adults aged 20 and over, including hearing assessments and the fitting of hearing aids, hearing protection, and assistive hearing devices.
  • Peritus Clinic, a world-class hospital focusing on urology care, fully equipped with the latest diagnostic, imaging, and surgical technologies. It offers four operating theatres, one of which uses the latest DaVinci robotic surgery platform, as well as an advanced diagnostics department with state-of-the-art imaging, including PET-CT and MRI.
  • Evidia, a leading provider of medical imaging diagnostics, offering a wide range of examinations including X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and mammography from units located across Sweden.
  • Arbets- och miljömedicin Syd (AMM Syd), a Region Skåne clinic located in the same building as Lund University’s Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. The clinic investigates and analyses suspected work- or environment-related ill health and conducts research in the field, while also running and developing the world-unique biobanks that form the basis of internationally recognised research. One of these biobanks contains 250,000 samples taken in early pregnancy since 1989, enabling research into disease development from the foetal stage onwards.
  • Kry Health Centre, a primary care provider offering services from doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, dieticians, occupational therapists, and nurses with various specialisations—digital when possible and physical when needed. Kry is Sweden’s third-largest healthcare provider and Europe’s largest digital care provider.
  • Executive Health, a Swedish privately owned chain of clinics offering advanced and safe screening programmes to detect diseases with potentially severe consequences.
  • Nordic Wellness, providing preventive health services delivered by one of Sweden’s largest fitness chains in its fully equipped gym.
  • Kod & Knåd, offering massage therapy.

Besides the network of care-providing organisations at Medicon Village, an important aspect of facilitating innovation from concept to the realisation of a life science product, process, or service, is the life science park's geographical location, with convenient walking distance to one of Sweden’s largest hospitals, Skåne University Hospital in Lund, and to the Biomedical Centre (BMC), where experimental medical research with a clinical orientation is conducted.
