Kyryl Popov exhibits at Inspira

Medicon Village

We welcome Ukranian photographer Kyryl Popov as an exhibitor on our gallery wall at Inspira (in the hallway to the right of the entrance). His pieces are on display in October for you to enjoy, and they are also available for purchase if you’re interested. Kyryl Popov will be present at the exhibition on Friday 16 October, 12:30-13:15, in case anyone wants to meet and chat.

Kyryl Popov is a photographer based in Lund. Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, he moved to Sweden in 2012. After eight years as a business developer at RG Discovery, he now works remotely for Rome-based IRBM from his office at Medicon Village.

Kyryl has been practicing photography for more than ten years. His work follows a fully analogue photographic process: all images are captured using vintage film cameras, including legendary Leica, Hasselblad, and Rolleiflex.

After exposure, the negatives are developed by hand and printed in a darkroom using an optical enlarger. The resulting silver gelatin prints are made in Kyryl’s home studio, located in the basement of the house where he lives.

This traditional process creates photographs with a distinctive, organic quality and a timeless character, that is difficult to reproduce through digital techniques. Silver gelatin prints are also exceptionally stable with an archival lifespan that can exceed 100 years.

Kyryl’s work has previously been exhibited at Hemgården in Lund, where he is a member of the local photographers’ association. The current exhibition brings together photographs made over several years and in a variety of locations, including Sweden, Denmark, Ukraine, Romania, and Italy.
